Just Another Day

Robert Ames is a 37-year-old insurance broker. He lives with his wife Kala and their son Jonathan in an unassuming house in Hamilton, Ontario (Canada).

One Friday morning, he sets off for work as usual - little does he know that his life will never be the same again. He will fall in love with one of his clients, accuse his wife of having an affair, and take his secretary to their boss's party, only to end up spending the night at her place. As Friday progresses, Robert - who makes a living insuring other peoples lives - will become increasingly unsure of his own: as his marriage starts to fall apart, he can't help wondering where all this leaves him standing...

With American writers inspiring his technique, Stefan Mühldorfer has written a stylish novel of stunning subtlety and sophistication. He gives us a masterly character study of a man in his thirties who is a shrewd observer of his own life, yet is unable to retain a grip on it.
